Mission

The mission of the Los Angeles Community Boathouse (LACB) is to develop, build, and manage a community boathouse in Marina Del Rey that offers rowing for the City of Los Angeles. Rowing provides transformative and lifelong fitness through training on the water and on land. LACB serves a diverse rowing community, including programs for youth, adults at the competitive and recreational levels, veterans, and rowers with physical or social-emotional challenges

Vision

  • Boathouse storage facilities for LACB as well as other small boaters, community groups and individuals.
  • LACB will have its own quality fleet of boats and oars for rental and use as well as space to store and maintain boats for different clubs and community groups, including high schools, high-performance domestic and international camps.
  • Our building plans include an optimal ergometer-indoor rower facility which can offer team building experiences and professionally guided classes to the public.
  • Our state-of-the-art equipment and indoor training tank will attract world-class athletes and their trainers to Los Angeles, especially during winter months, and provide a place for Olympic athletes to train and congregate in 2028.
  • Locker rooms, showers.
  • Athletic trainer’s room with state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Included in the facility will be a quality crew-themed restaurant and clubhouse open to the broader community, creating job and event opportunities, literally bringing the City of Los Angeles to the water’s edge.
  • Senior programming.
  • Annual race events on the water and on land.
  • Community outreach.
  • Environmental Protection of Urban Waterways.
